Overview

What Color Is This is a color picker tool that runs entirely in your browser. It does not collect, store, or transmit any data.

In short: We don't collect anything. No data leaves your browser. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no cookies.

What the extension does

When you activate the extension, it captures a screenshot of the current tab to read pixel colors under your cursor. This screenshot exists only in memory, is never saved to disk, and is never sent anywhere. It is discarded when you deactivate the extension or navigate away.

Data we collect

None. Specifically:

Data storage

The extension does not use chrome.storage, local storage, or any other persistence mechanism. No data is stored between sessions.

Network requests

The extension makes zero network requests. It does not communicate with any server, API, or third-party service. All processing happens locally in your browser.

Tab capture

The extension uses chrome.tabs.captureVisibleTab to take a temporary in-memory screenshot of the active tab. This is necessary to read pixel colors accurately. The screenshot:
