Overview

What Font Is This is a font identification tool that runs entirely in your browser. It does not collect, store, or transmit any data.

What the extension does

When you activate the extension on a web page, it reads the CSS computed styles (font-family, font-size, font-weight, color, etc.) of the elements you hover over. This information is displayed locally in a tooltip and is never sent anywhere.

Data we collect

None. Specifically:

• No personal information
• No browsing history or URLs visited
• No page content or text
• No cookies or tracking identifiers
• No analytics or telemetry
• No usage statistics

Data storage

The extension does not use chrome.storage, local storage, or any other persistence mechanism. No data is stored between sessions. Each activation starts fresh.

Network requests

The extension makes zero network requests. It does not communicate with any server, API, or third-party service. All processing happens locally in your browser.

Permissions explained

• activeTab — Allows the extension to read CSS styles on the current tab when you click the extension icon. Access is limited to the active tab and only after your explicit click.
• scripting — Allows the extension to inject the font detection script into the current page. This script reads computed styles and displays the tooltip. It does not modify page content.

Third-party services

This extension does not use any third-party services, SDKs, libraries, or analytics tools.

Children's privacy

This extension does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, the updated version will be published at this URL. Since we collect no data, changes are unlikely.
